REGIONAL TRAINING-ADVANCING ANTI-CORRUPTION IN AFRICA THROUGH BENEFICIAL OWNERSHIP TRANSPARENCY.


15th April 2024 marked the commencement of the training programme on Advancing Anti-Corruption in Africa through Beneficial Ownership Transparency. This 4-days regional training is organised by Commonwealth Africa Anti-Corruption Centre (CAACC) in partnership with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and Open Ownership in Pretoria, South Africa.

On 27th February, CAACC commemorated a significant milestone with a day filled with festivities, reflection, and gratitude under theme; “Strengthening Partnership Opportunities for the next 10 years.” at Royal Aria in Tlokweng, Botswana. “PLAY YOUR PART! LET’S RID AFRICA OF CORRUPTION’’

25TH – 26TH APRIL 2023

The Commonwealth Africa Anti-Corruption Centre (CAACC) on 25th and 26th April 2023 hosted an Anti-Corruption Symposium under the theme “Play your part! Let’s rid Africa of Corruption.”

In his welcoming remarks, The Centre Manager, Mr  Mogolodi Rantsetse said that, ‘corruption in the African Continent is rampant and this dampens direct foreign investment, which if not addressed would lead to pitiable education system, poor health care, infrastructure’.

CAPACITY BUILDING: STRENGTHENING THE CAPACITY OF ANTI-CORRUPTION OFFICERS ON FINANCIAL INVESTIGATION (CORRUPTION) WORKSHOP.

The CAACC is collaborating with Malkara Consulting Pty (Ltd) to run a face-to-face workshop titled Financial Investigation (Corruption) for the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime, Botswana Police Service, Financial Intelligence Agency and Non-Banking Financial Institutions Regulatory Authority from the

12th-23rd September 2022 in Gaborone.

ICAC: Africa Anti-Corruption Day

The Independent Commission Against Corruption organized a virtual reflection forum titled "OVERCOMING

CORRUPTION VULNERABILITIES IN THE FACE OF COVID-19 PANDEMIC" on the 12th July 2021. Seventy-five participants from fifty institutions took part in the virtual forum to trigger discussions on the risk and vulnerabilities of corruption associated with the pandemic and to brainstorm strategies to

eliminate the risk.

The Commonwealth Secretary- General Rt. Hon Patricia Scotland paid her first official visit to Botswana from 3rd to 8th July 2021, arriving from Zambia on 3rd July, for official meetings with several government departments.
